"What a piece of work is a man! how noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension how like a god! the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals!" - William Shakespeare

Psychotherapy for Sensitive and Conscientious Adults

Depression-Anxiety-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Experiences of sadness, depression, anxiety, panic, nightmares and /or flashbacks can be best treated through psychotherapy and psychotropic medication. Past events, how well our childhoods prepared us for life, issues in living, the nature of our attachments with significant others, the amount of social support, awareness/utilization of  our personal strengths, and how we perceive ourselves vis a vis these issues as well as our temperament and inherited genes cause depression, anxiety, or  PTSD.

Many who suffer from these symptoms need to talk about the events, issues, emotions, and feelings in their lives and be actively heard. I provide ample time for the client to talk in a nonjudgmental and safe environment.  I listen for meaning and patterns in order to help the client identify his/her important issues. I intervene in an empathic way to help heal trauma and past hurts.

Socrates said, "Know thy self." We are seldom well enough acquainted with ourselves. We need to know ourselves so we can experience lives consistent with our identity, strengths, weaknesses, past hurts and/or traumas. As a specialist in identifying a person's gifts, I validate a client’s emotions, feelings, mixed feelings, perceptions and behavioral dilemmas. We can resolve issues though greater clarity of the parameters, i.e. how we feel and what we perceive and develop an action plan. The action plan needs to include bolstering of social supports and strengthening of attachments.
